Do you have any tips on good pregnancy items to purchase for a 1st time mother? Someone told me those baby band thingys for expanding bellies. Any preferred magazine subscription? Thanks ! and can't wait to hear more!

Tetrised - I love it. So true about packing in general. I play Tetris EVERY NIGHT before I go to bed - on my Game Boy. Yes, I am 38 years old but SO WHAT? My son, Wyatt, thinks the Game Boy is a cell phone and holds it up to his ear (backwards) and says "ay?" That's "hello," for all of you non-parents out there. I was totally thinking of you the other day when we had some new friends over and OMG they talked about their kids constantly. The kids were like two trained seals, barking out their cute little phrases for all to adore (we didn't have any fish bits to throw to them, darn it). The parents weren't necessarilly competitive or anything so it wasn't AWFUL but still - I felt so bad for the other couple who didn't have any kids and had to listen to this guy talk about fermenting shit in a Diaper Genie. Parenthood makes you really weird and dorky, man. Maybe I was thinking of some entry from your other blog but in any event it should make you happy (or maybe a bit uncomfortable?) to know that some stranger who plays Tetris every night was thinking of you on Saturday afternoon and how you would have definitely written about that experience... Hope you're having fun and not feeling too gross. Cookies!

Congrats! I'm due in a week, so I'm completely jealous of your still-able-to-wear-cute-pants-and-feel-human stage.
Enjoy your trip.

I'll leave my congratulations over here as eleventy kajillion people already did it on the other posting. :o) Congrats!!

We thought we had enough room in our Tacoma (bah-ha-ha!!) before we had our little one. Even with a Yakima LoadWarrior roof rack and a canopy we couldn't fit all our stuff and our two dogs. Our solution was to buy an 8' trailer to haul behind our truck. It's chock full o' baby stuff, camping necessities, and my husband's motorcycle. It seems to be an OK solution for now.

Have a great Fourth!
