I feel kind of bad for slagging JB about his Vegas trip and insinuating that he’s a heartless bastard who never gives me nice things, when in fact he’s a heartless bastard who sometimes gives me very nice things indeed (and not just Muhdik, JOSH) (PS: HAAAAA).

Those are two pretty pretty bracelets I got at Christmas, one with Riley’s birthstone (peridot) and one with Smalltopus’s (amethyst). Sure, that amethyst might end up being not quite 100% correct, depending on whether Small makes an earlier appearance, but no biggie. Before Riley was born JB gave me a lovely necklace with a sapphire for Riley’s September due date, then of course the boy went and arrived on the very last day of August, so we have a history of children screwing up their father’s thoughtful gemstone purchase. Somehow I have managed to deal with the burden of having a beautiful necklace with a funny backstory, so if STP ends up being a garnet baby, that’s okay.

(Although, memo to child: you are supposed to stay put a while longer, dammit, so Mama can have her much-looked-forward-to pre-baby spa day. Don’t make me show up in the hospital with chipped toenail polish, kid.)

In other news, I keep trying to come up with something other than OMG YOU GUYS I AM SOOOO PREGNANT to write about, but I can’t. Maybe because I look like THIS:

No more room for brain and thinky-type activities. All is Belly. Must do what Belly commands. Must . . . get . . . Haagen . . . Dazs.

Delurking to say you look amazing!! I’ve been reading you for awhile and you are a constant source of laughter and inspiration. And if I look half this good when I’m pregnant, I’ll be ecstatic! Can’t wait to meet Smalltopus!

  2. Jennifer on January 11th, 2008 8:57 am

That jewelry is soooooo beautiful – you and JB are lucky to have each other. And you are soooo rockin’ the pregnant belly. Seriously. You are gorgeous.

  3. Naomi the Strange on January 11th, 2008 9:10 am

You look really good… I love that yellow chair in the picture too. :)

  4. kalisah on January 11th, 2008 9:16 am

with all you’ve been writing I expected you to look like a giant blob but you don’t at all! You look wonderful! Very wad-of-bubble-gum-stuck-to-a-toothpick, but wonderful!!

  5. Kirsten on January 11th, 2008 9:16 am

Wow – that is one heck of a belly! You look amazing though, seriously – even if you were schlepping in sweats, you’d still look fantastic. I’m due in April and I’m starting to wonder how I’m going to handle the belly reaching that size, it’s already seeming unmanageable – HEE!

  6. Katie on January 11th, 2008 9:29 am

OMG, you look so good! Seriously, I had such big boobs through both pregnancies, I didn’t show until 5-6 months, and even then the boobs were almost as big as the belly! Your belly is so cute and you look great!

Here’s hoping Small stays put until Feb! But I do have to say that January babies are great! Mine waited until Jan 4 to show up, but he’s definately a keeper!

  7. Alyson on January 11th, 2008 9:53 am

The bracelets are beautiful, and JB is the second best catch around (sorry my DH comes first!) Be glad that you can wear your bracelets together. Try as I might, I can’t find a way to make my kids’ birthstones go together in any pleasing way – Oldest is Opal (october), #2 is garnet (January), #3 is Pearl (June). And I can’t stand pearls, they’re for old ladies and sorority girls!

Ya know, it looks like that besides the baby bump, you’re pretty much still “you” shaped. The question is, do you look pregnant from behind, or does it just look like you have two basketballs stuffed under your shirt?

  8. Rachel on January 11th, 2008 10:14 am

Listen, I have been there, I know how you feel right now–but you are totally a skinny girl with a big belly. I know you probably FEEL like you’re swollen and achey and all that last-trimester crap–but you look fantastic!

  9. Marie Green on January 11th, 2008 10:42 am

You are one of those pregnant women who don’t look pregnant from behind- and then you turn and shock everyone!

Also, that belly is SO GREAT. Seriously, you could have just put a basketball under your shirt for that picture, for all it’s perfect roundness…

  10. Eleanor Q. on January 11th, 2008 10:55 am

Just de-lurking to say that you look fantastic and that the chair in your picture is very cool.

  11. victoria on January 11th, 2008 11:12 am

Wow, what a sexy young mama you are! The bump is really cute and shapely, just like the rest of you! :-)

  12. H on January 11th, 2008 11:30 am

You look great, but just looking at that picture makes my back hurt. Lordy.

As an August-born girl, I always hated peridot (spoken with a hard T when I was young) but now appreciate it. Pretty bracelets and I covet the peridot one.

  13. Jennifer on January 11th, 2008 11:46 am

What everyone else has said. The reason you look “so pregnant” is because the rest of you looks “so buff.” You got the arm definition AND calf definition going on.

What beautiful bracelets! And whether the stone is eventually amethyst or garnet, you score on both. Nice garnets are such a deep blood-red and you have to catch them just right with the light to see the red… sometimes they look black like onyx. Love ’em.

By the way, while you’re still allowed to eat ice cream with wild abandon, have you tried Ben & Jerry’s “Creme Brulee?”

  14. She Likes Purple on January 11th, 2008 12:13 pm

I’ll second what I said over at flickr. You look just fabulous.

  15. Amy on January 11th, 2008 1:00 pm

    Aww, what lovely bracelets!

And because I’m sure one can never have too many comments of this time, you just look… word defyingly good. I know you post about all of the cookies and the lack of exercise and etc., but those arms? Gina Gershon hot, lady. You look *great*.

  16. lifexhistory on January 11th, 2008 2:08 pm

You look so fabulous that I almost *wish* chipped toe-nail polish birth on you. And I don’t wish that on people. But it’s just not fair that you are THAT pregnant AND that pretty!

  17. Dawn on January 11th, 2008 2:32 pm

Jesus, I think I hate you. Except for that basketball you apparently swallowed you look fantastic.

  18. Josh on January 11th, 2008 2:33 pm

Day-um, nice jewels! I bet it was cool to live way back in history when all the kick ass people got paid in jewels. Well, jewels and gold, but either way you’ve got treasure. I bet that was way cooler than a paper money system.

Oh yeah I went back and found my Muhdik link:
It’s at the three minute point.

  19. Melissa on January 11th, 2008 2:38 pm

You look great and not at all like you are eating ice cream every night. Just because you look good doesn’t mean it isn’t uncomfortable. Judging by your pic, I think the baby might give you that spa day. If you were looking real puffy, I might be thinking an earlier but you are looking buff!

  20. Robin on January 11th, 2008 3:23 pm

Chiming in about how you look AWESOME! I’m only 21 weeks along and already have the pregnant face. I’m so damn jealous of you. Now why didn’t I get in super badass shape before I got pregnant again?!?! (Oh, yeah – I’m lazy)

  21. Sunny on January 11th, 2008 3:32 pm

You look fantastic. More Haagen Daz and a pedicure always does the trick for me…and I’m not pregnant! (But what color polish? That will require some thinking, so start now.)

  22. skiplovey on January 11th, 2008 5:36 pm

First of all, wow you look great for being All Belly.
Second, shoot I might even think about having another one if I get one of those bracelets. Nice!

  23. Liz in Australia on January 11th, 2008 8:09 pm

    Aww. You’re gorgeous, Sundry :)

  24. Lesley on January 11th, 2008 9:17 pm

Some inexperienced girl’s going to look at that photo and think “Hey I can be pregnant and still look amazingly buff and toned and hawt!” and come gunning for you later.

You look as fit as you did before you were pregnant.

  25. Kay on January 11th, 2008 10:14 pm

Girl you rock the baby belly for real!
Man I hate peridot. I would of held in Riley one more day to get that damn Sapphire.;)

  26. Loralee on January 12th, 2008 12:44 am

    You look amazing.

And I am TOTALLY in love with the closed-arm Gents chair.

  27. Josh on January 13th, 2008 5:34 pm

Hey Sundry, since you like zombies as much as I do, I’ve got a little treat for you. A hard day’s night of the living dead.

  28. emily on January 14th, 2008 6:02 am

    You look gorgeous!

  29. breckgirl on January 14th, 2008 10:41 am

You look great. Even your arm has definition. God, my arms looked like two huge pork roasts.

And I don’t care if all you talk about is being pregnant. I totally understand. I mean, how the hell are you supposed to talk about anything else when you’ve got THAT in your body? Really – it’s okay! I can’t wait to see this little guy. And find out what his name is!!!

  30. Bianca on January 14th, 2008 12:50 pm

Dear god woman, don’t you know that at this stage in your pregnancy if you don’t write for more than 3 days we’re going to start thinking you’ve already popped!

  31. laughing mommy on January 14th, 2008 2:18 pm

You still have ankles… where is the 3rd trimester swelling? And how did you get so tan?

    You look terrific!

  32. mama's got moxie on January 15th, 2008 7:44 pm
