We should be glad a Republican can actually win a safe Democrat seat in the Senate. But, we should remember that this race is anomalous in several ways that dont include the repudiation of the regressive Communist agenda of the Democrat party. True, it is telling that Obama cannot go to Massachusetts to campaign for Coakley because they fear that his presence could hurt more than it would help. This would be the real step forward as far as eliminating the Communist threat. However, other Republican candidates wont be so lucky where the weakness of their opponent and the distractions of Haiti and the health bill abate.

I was just passing through, but couldn't help but leave a couple of my own crushes:

Susan Sarandon in Bull Durham.

Maggie Gyllenhaal in Secretary (I'm not much into either S&M or B&D, but this is just a fun movie--and in a scene near the end of the movie, when she has come to terms with who/what she's all about, she's getting her butt reddened. If the expression on her face could be bottled and sold, everybody would be blissed out.

Ann-Margret.

Meryl Streep, The Devil Wears Prada, Silkwood.

Scarlett Johanson.

Boy, am I all over the place, or what???

School-Age Me says Nic Cage in Valley Girl, Jon Cusack in Say Anything, Cary Elwes in the Princess Bride Sting in Dune, Gary Oldman in Sid and Nancy.

Grownup Me tells School-Age me to grow up and get myself into an Ed Norton/Brad Pitt Fight Club Sandwich, Val Kilmer in The Doors (yum) or at bare minimum a little Jonathan Rhys Myers in Match Point appetizer.

But sadly, Postpartum Me probably has to settle for fat Val Kilmer in something that went straight to video.

Just a partial list. I had my first movie star crush at a very early age....

Kurt Russell in the Disney movies
Robert DeNiro
Malcolmn McDowell
Christopher Walken
Tim Roth
Ralph Fiennes
Greg Wise (Sense & Sensibility)

I am currently in love with Tim Burton. I am not kidding. I can stare at this picture for hours:

Oooh, and I will tell anyone who will listen that in the mid 80's I saw George Clooney in a play. It was in a tiny theater (I was 2 feet away from him) and he had a bit part, but he was sooo freakin' beautiful I knew he'd be famous some day.
