Money worries, future uncertainty, career angst, frustrating inability to separate personal values from creature comforts, hour-long commutes, fear of failure, spousal disagreements, parenting challenges, feelings of isolation, constant sugar addiction cycle, school stresses . . . meet Monday evening, 5-7 PM.

  3. SJ on June 15th, 2010 10:03 am

You just described my life. Where is the meeting, I’d like to sign up.

Your family is precious and your photos always show just how much fun you have together. The memories you all are making are the ones that your kids will remember forever. And that has to be the best feeling in the world…aside from all the troubles.

  4. kalisa on June 15th, 2010 10:03 am

LOVE the one of Riley & the honeysuckle!!

JB realizes, of course, that there will come a time — very soon — when he’ll have to stop demonstrating these hijinks to the boys because they are going to try to repeat them, right?

  5. victoria on June 15th, 2010 10:14 am

    Beautiful pics, thank you!

  6. Stacy on June 15th, 2010 10:15 am

Problems Scmablems…. you have awesome hair!!

  7. Eric's Mommy on June 15th, 2010 10:16 am

    Love it!

These pictures just made me happy.

The picture of JB standing on the bike made me pee my pants a little though. Holy crap!

  8. Melissa on June 15th, 2010 10:21 am

Beautiful! And very rarely do Mondays get the credit they (sometimes) deserve.

  9. Lena on June 15th, 2010 10:31 am

Isn’t it funny how different pics speak to your readers? For me, its Dylan in the first one of JB on the bike. You can tell that he’s experiencing shock and awe that his daddy is standing on the bike! Love it!

  10. samantha jo Campen on June 15th, 2010 10:34 am

I know of what you speak. All of it.

    You have an amazing family.

  11. Garnish on June 15th, 2010 10:42 am

And welcome to life…and I say that in the warmest way.

Deep breath. Have a look again at all those fantastic images. You are here, your man is here, your children are here. All the rest, will some how and some way work itself out :-)

  12. Jennie on June 15th, 2010 10:47 am

    Your family inspires me.

  13. MichelleH on June 15th, 2010 10:52 am

I love it!!! We need those moments or we wouldn’t survive all that other stuff you said! :) I’m glad Monday swooped in for the win!

  14. Nancy on June 15th, 2010 10:53 am

You mean my kids aren’t the only ones who want to use their red sleds all year round?! Awesome! (great photos — and yes, that fun time WINS!)

  15. MichelleH on June 15th, 2010 10:58 am

Also: You look great-loving your hair :)

  16. anonmom on June 15th, 2010 11:10 am

My inner mother is screaming, “Where are your helmets!?”

  17. Julie on June 15th, 2010 11:23 am

you and JB = coolest parents ever!

  18. Amy K on June 15th, 2010 11:51 am

I went to a playdate in Kirkland yesterday with my toddler, and the cutest little two-year-old boy arrived with his mom and whispered, “No leaf blowers?” He had to peer around corners and make sure there were no rogue leaf blowers coming to get him before he could play in the yard. It reminded me of your Dylan stories.

  19. Jessica on June 15th, 2010 11:54 am

Off topic, but your hair looks uh-mazing.

  20. Heather on June 15th, 2010 12:07 pm

Very accurate description of MY life! How’d you know? Monday always wins!

  21. Keri on June 15th, 2010 12:46 pm

What a beautiful family you have…these pictures made me smile. Thank you for reminding me what REALLY matters. Planning our own meeting from 5-7pm. Thanks.

  22. Jen on June 15th, 2010 12:47 pm

I love it. It’s so easy to see how much you adore your kids and how much fun they have with you and your husband. Awesome.

  23. Christine on June 15th, 2010 1:04 pm

Your family is so stinking cute. Although holy jeesus, my husband’s driving scares me, so your JB gives me a heartattack every damn time I see him doing something that would equal Broken Neck in my house. JB! youch!

  24. Faith on June 15th, 2010 1:11 pm

I feel like these moments are what family is for. So that no matter what other garbage you’re going through, you know you have a support system to keep you sane and remind you of what life’s really about.

And yes, your hair looks awesome, which also can’t hurt!

  25. Julie on June 15th, 2010 1:18 pm

Love the sleds. We play with our sleds and snowmobile more in the non-snowing seasons than in winter. Enjoy those precious moments.

  26. Lisa on June 15th, 2010 1:18 pm

Awesome! I need more monday evenings like this with my family…

  27. Amy on June 15th, 2010 1:57 pm

Awesome! I have those moments but hanging outside with the kiddos seems to win out everytime!

  28. marta on June 15th, 2010 2:21 pm

Not to make light of your major life stresses but… omg cutest hairstyle ever (yours)!

    Bellybutton!

  29. chrystal on June 15th, 2010 2:23 pm

    Your hair looks awesome!

  30. Victoria on June 15th, 2010 4:58 pm

I totally just did the “end of the boxing match” ding ding ding noise in my head!

    (Also love the hair)

  31. willikat on June 15th, 2010 5:38 pm

Ah, yes, sweet release. Amazing what getting outside will do, right?

I know things have been rough. But more win days are ahead. Hang in there!

Um, yes to the hair, by the way. You look amazing.

  32. Emily on June 15th, 2010 5:45 pm

I love love love your hair! Your boys are beautiful. Man, what a blessed life! I know most people always look back and want to relive their 20s, but I’m 26 – and I can’t wait to be where you are with a smoking husband, hot bod and cute hair, and 2 adorable boys!

  33. Tricia on June 15th, 2010 5:52 pm

    My favorite pic?

Honeysuckle. Hands-down; That is MY childhood.

  34. Melly on June 15th, 2010 6:33 pm

My grandfather always said “as long as you are healthy you don’t have any problems”. Simplistic? Yes…but still helps me get through the rough days. What a beautiful family you have!

  35. Donna on June 15th, 2010 7:09 pm

OK. . . . you KNOW that Reilly and Dylan are going to try that bike thing, right? And there’s going to be blood. And you’re going to be able to say, in caps, “J.B., I told you. . .” And Dylan’s belly is absolutely squooshable.

  36. Joanne on June 15th, 2010 7:43 pm

Isn’t it so much easier when the weather is good? I hope things get clearer soon.

  37. Locusts and Wild Honey on June 15th, 2010 10:18 pm

Monday has vanquished its opponent once again! I’d love to see Friday’s duel. Hmmmm…

  38. g~ on June 16th, 2010 4:26 am

I’m just jealous that you’re able to go outside on a Monday evening. It’s still in the 90’s here in GA at that time…
    Long-sleeves, Oh My Lands.

  39. Claire on June 16th, 2010 5:23 am

I think you just summed up my life as of late. Two kids is INSANE.

  40. Sara on June 16th, 2010 5:58 am

I remember eating Honeysuckles like that…what an overwhelming sensory memory from my childhood.

  41. Erika on June 16th, 2010 6:46 am

The boys can’t help but love their Daddy to death because he is so COOL! Your boys are so cute. Dylan is just… I could eat him up. It always amazes me how much he looks like his uncle because my niece (sister’s daughter) looks just like me! When people see us all together, they assume she is my daughter. :)

  42. June on June 16th, 2010 7:03 am

JB is rocking the bike tricks! Whee!!!

Riley looks so much like you in the first photo. Thanks for sharing.

  43. Steph on June 16th, 2010 7:10 am

I often sit here and wonder what life would be like if we didn’t all have money. It causes so many problems and stresses us out so much we forget to enjoy the rest of our lives. Kudos to you for enjoying it!

  44. MyFrogs on June 16th, 2010 8:02 am

When all that adds up, my CHOICE is to just go with crazy. Just like you did. Get out and enjoy the kids and things that are free. Maybe bring a margarita along too!

  45. Trina on June 16th, 2010 8:06 am

I think you found the therapy/solution right here in these picutres!

  46. chelsea on June 16th, 2010 8:13 am

    1) I love your hair like that. I tried for MONTHS to get it to be all adorable half pulled back.

    2) I think the whole world needs some time outside with a hulahoop or Skip It or something.

  47. Sonia on June 16th, 2010 9:05 am

My son had ‘Field Day’ at school yesterday, and spent the entirety of it outside. I’m going to need to remember how much he likes being outside about 2 weeks from now, when The Rotten-ness appears from boredom during summer break.
I’m glad the 4 of you were able to get outside, play and smile a little to ease some stress. I’m sorry that you have so much on your mind…..that much uncertainty weighs very heavily. :(

  48. Deanna on June 16th, 2010 9:48 am

Wow! your hair looks *great* in that first photo – and for just hanging with the kids, too!

And- has JB acknowledged that *he* will do the ER trip(s) when the kid(s) copy him and it ends badly?? Just saying. Go ahead and make that agreement now to avaoid the rock-paper-scissors decission of who goes later. *smile* Because you know the kids will be copying his awesome jumping/balancing moves in no time!

PS: Has Dyl ever seen the play lawnmowers that blow bubbles?? Could that help?

  49. Kate on June 16th, 2010 10:34 am

Hell yeah! Playtime trumps all of the daily b.s.

  50. Zephyr on June 16th, 2010 3:13 pm

You may have the most awesome husband in the whole entire world. He stands on moving bikes?! What?! Take me to your leader…

  51. M.Bailey on June 16th, 2010 6:58 pm

A sled on green grass? Why didn’t I think of that? BrillianT

  52. Meggish on June 17th, 2010 11:55 am

Madam, your hair! Awesome. Your husband! Hilarious. Your boys! Adorable. Good show!

  53. Maria on June 17th, 2010 12:24 pm

I am so goddamned stressed out. I read this and just burst into tears.

I’m going to go smile at my kids now. Thank you.
