Reading:

Standing in the Rainbow, Fannie Flagg

I am such a sap for loving this book so much.

Check out:

Via Joolie, the amazing sounds of the Tasmanian devil. I'm kind of embarrassed to tell you how many times I've listened to this.

Artifact:

I totally painted these pots myself, because I am so crafty and shit. Or maybe I just bought them at JoAnne's. YOU'LL NEVER KNOW!

Oh, I can't lie. I bought them.

OR DID I?

No, seriously, I bought this painting kit, and put the pots on their sides and rolled them, sort of, to get those lines, and...

Come on, like I could have done that without fucking up and getting paint everywhere. They were 9.99 a piece and worth every penny for their cheery little springlike colors.

Of course, maybe I made them using some kind of STENCIL. Didn't think of that, DID YOU?

The sidebar officially needs to STFU and eat a rice krispy treat.

Let me share with you just a few of the subjects that are on my mind, oh, I'd say pretty much CONSTANTLY these days:

Bacon, lettuce and tomato sandwiches made with toasted rye bread and mayonnaise. Baked potatoes with butter, sour cream, and plenty of salt and freshly ground black pepper. Peanut butter wafer cookies. Green olives. Triscuits and Muenster cheese. Grilled cheese sandwiches dipped into milky tomato soup. Spicy quesadillas with guacamole. Gardenburgers with mustard and a slice of Walla Walla onion. Hot dogs smothered in sauerkraut. Toast with peanut butter and slices of banana. Tapioca pudding with cinnamon sprinkled on top. Blueberry muffins cut in half and spread with butter. Oven baked fries with vinegar. Boboli pizza with mozzarella, peperoncinis, and artichoke hearts. Lemon meringue pie. Granola with milk. Egg salad sandwiches on dark rye bread. Cheddar cheese with Fuji apple slices. Popcorn with butter and parmesan. Pineapple chunks with vanilla yoghurt and honey. Cucumber sticks and ranch dressing. Cheetos.

And now let me read to you from any up-to-date book on pregnancy:

"There is no truth in the old saying that pregnancy means eating for two...During the second and third trimesters, only an additional 200 to 300 calories are needed. ...extra calories need not be consumed in the first three months."

Right. Well, that's good news.

The weather was gorgeous this weekend, and we spent some time cleaning up the backyard. JB took Log Patrol duty, and even broke out the lawnmower. He built up my vegetable garden bed, and I planted flowers and repotted our container plants. It's so nice to look out the windows and see color - surprisingly satisfying for a couple days' worth of work.
