We visited my mom and my aunt this weekend at their house in Port Angeles, and I believe a good time was had by all. I took about a thousand pictures, but I missed the very best Kodak moment, when Riley was running from what seemed to be a stampeding herd of dogs (it was only Cassie, my mother’s collie mix, but she was very gallopy) and his arms and legs were pinwheeling and he was yelling “NOOOO!” in slow motion, and JB and I agreed he looked exactly like Indiana Jones when he’s running from that big-ass boulder in the first movie. Ah, good times.
I have some photos to share, but I also have a quick question for any of you web-savvy types: I’m seeing lots of referrals coming through to this website from the ClubMom blog, and the link it’s directing to is long and weird and looks like it’s some kind of ad-serving code. I can’t figure this out for anything—ClubMom runs ads for Disney, not random personal blogs, and I deliberately don’t provide any links to All & Sundry from there. Anyone have any ideas?
Onto the photos! (The whole set is here.)
JB and Riley on the ferry.
We have been playing a game lately where we ask Riley what the lion says. “RAWR!” he says, making his hand into a little claw. “RARR!”
Sundance, my aunt’s bird. JB and I freaked Riley out by making a loud CA-CAW! sound every time he got near the cage. Oh stop it, it wasn’t that mean.
Charlie and his badger-rooting snout.
This is my mom’s new puppy Caesar, a Shitzu-Pomeranian mix. That’s right, he’s a Shit-Poo.
The view from their living room. Damn, right?
Nearby jetty at sunset.
Really cool looking broken-down shack and pier.
Sky and trees.
Submarine in the Hood Canal, heading back to the naval base in Bremerton.
Kingston ferry coming into dock.
Riley, pointing out yet another boat (“A BOAT! A BOOOOOOOAT!”) while on the ferry ride home.
It was a fine weekend, and I hope you had a good one too. Happy Sunday evening, the time when all snacks are considered equal (hello, ICE CREAM). Oh, and happy Father’s Day!
Love the windblown trees, they look like happy dogs with their heads out the car window.
No idea what’s going on with that linkage, but I had to say…absolutely GORGEOUS photos!
These shots are gorgeous!!
Wow, I love all your gorgeous pictures!
I got overenthused…
The rest of my comment:
My dad lives in that area and you captured it well.
Damn. I had a bunch of Camp Fire girls camping on the peninsula this weekend, and I would TOTALLY have tossed them into the surf and met you for brunch at McDs if I’d known you were in Port Angeles. Did you get as wet as I did? Because I think it may take three days to get my sleeping bag dried out.
Well, no wonder Riley looks suspicious in so many pictures. Check out your husband’s expression in the first picture!
Your pictures are always breathtaking. It’s beautiful country up there in your parts. : )
You take the best pictures!
I love them!
I’m thinking about getting a better camera now.
Am totally un-websavy so no help there. But the photos are wonderful and Jan is correct, Riley and JB have a very similar suspicious look .
It looks beautiful up there.
I found you off of a ClubMom e-newsletter. It took me to your Purple is a Fruit blog, where I found out about Sundry. Sounds to me like you have fans all over the place, why not a few at ClubMom too.
Wonderful Wonderful pictures

i think, instead of a shit-poo (which in my mind would indicate some sort of poodle cross), i think caesar should be called a Shiteranian.
just my opinion.
sounds like you had a marvy weekend. thanks for sharing the pics and stories :)
justmouse is right…
A Shit-Poo is a cross between a poodle and a shitzu, my brother has one(actually I think it’s really a shi-poo but I can’t stand my brother’s yappy dog so I tend to call it shit-poo).
I do enjoy “shiteranian” that is a good one! :)
Great pics. Your men are too cute!
Great Pictures!
When my neice was a wee one my sister was teaching her the animal noises. When asked “What does the Bear say?” She replied “Wocka, wocka, wocka” ! I about fell out of my chair!
i can’t tell if i need a better camera, better skillz, or better scenery, but DANG WOMAN your pictures are always so breathtaking. :-)
It amazes me when I look at photos like these how immensely different people’s lives are in different areas of the country. You would never find a sight that even marginally resembles these where I live.
Awesome photos. Wish my photography was that good.
Riley is gorgeous!
Someone beat me to it, but I came to the comments to say that looking at the picture of Riley and JB, it’s clear where Riley got the Suspicious Look!
Adorable pic of you and Riley!

These photos are kind of spectacular, Linda. Yes indeed.
