I was visiting with my friend Ashley today and as she watched Dylan struggle to be upright in my lap she predicted he’d be sitting on his own soon. About an hour after she left, he proved her right:
STAGE ONE: THE TINY GORILLA STANCE.
STAGE TWO: STARTLING NEW VANTAGE POINT.
STAGE THREE: HOLY CRAP! HOW YOU LIKE MAH DICDIAPER NOW?
STAGE FOUR: SLOW-MO CARPET FACEPLANT.
You should know that I actually did put the camera down at that point to rescue him. Although he was pretty funny-looking, all mashed into the carpet with his hands trapped underneath him. It would have made a great contribution to this site.
I went and got a skull-cushioning boppy pillow for him, but at that point he was all about kicking back and going, did you SEE that shit? Whoah.
Congrats Dylan! Go big boy!
he is so adorable! I love the tiny gorilla stance!
Yippeeeee Dylan! What a milestone. Oh man, is he cute or what?!
I do love me some failblog. Great laughs to be had.
I love his facial expressions!
My god he’s handsome. I love the red hair.
I love that you caught the look(s) on his face. Total “WOW!”
Oh so cute! My daughter is almost there. She gets on all fours and then leans back so she’s kind of sitting up, with one leg stuck underneath her and then … sploosh, total face plant. A coupla more weeks…
You should seriously consider getting that boy on TV or in movies. The camera loves him!
What a sweetheart! I love how bewildered he looks in the second and third pictures. And that hair! Gorgeous! EXCLAMATION POINT!
Perfect posture and flexibility!
(I’d squawk if I could press my knees to the floor, cushion my soles together and bend forward with a flat back!)
Ok, so how does your little man – who I SWEAR was born just the other day! – suddenly get the urge to sit up on his own. I mean to say, really: what did you do with the time?! Plus he’s so darn cute…meh, but you knew that. :)
Go Dylan!!!!
BEST Thursday morning photo series EVER. The captions are dead-on; you both need agents!
Yeah, the captions coupled with his expressions had me laughing before I even finished my coffee – very rare.
Aww..he’s so cute!
I remember always rushing to throw a pillow under Elliot just before he bashed his head on the floor. I loved when he could finally sit up so I could place him down in front of a toy and say “go.”
Wow — all of a sudden he looks like a little boy! He’s still very squeezable, though. Darling boy. They are both going to be hella hot when they get older, too — good looking family. Speaking of which, you look GREAT — I don’t care how many scooter pies you eat all the hard work you’ve done will keep you fit. Really proud of you. Happy BD to JB, good for you for ditching Parent “Pish”, and keep writing — you are my morning coffee and it’s better than the grandest quadruple espresso at Starbucks. (I haven’t commented in awhile… but I’m still herre!)
Ha! These pictures and captions made me laugh. He’s so adorable–the facial expressions are priceless! Congrats to Dylan!
OMG…how precious are his facial ecpressions!!!! I must say I love the phote title How do you like mah diaper now…reminds me of the Toby Keith song (How Do You Like Me Now)…I got to meet him on Saturday…eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!
You family is beautiful and you weight loss and fitness track inspired me to do the same…25 pounds since May…THANK YOU!
oh-muh-gaw! Such a sweet little look!! :)
Oh, so rude! So very cute, and love that you have the whole sequence – except the face plant. I might have snapped it first :)
These pictures just made me so happy. His expressions are priceless and gorgeous. Gorgeous face, incredible photographer to catch that gorgeous face.
You are better than morning coffee!
That is one cute kid.
Not only are those pictures adorable, but I just spent 20 minutes looking at the fail blog…overall, great post!
He is so cute! Good job with the sitting, little guy!
The fail blog is awesome. Thanks for introducing me to it!
He looks so delighted with what he has achieved. Tiny gorilla stage may be one of the cutest things I have ever seen.
I love the captions…you nail them every time
He’s precious…love this stage where they can sit up but not move. It won’t be long though – watch out Riley.
I have so many times thought of the fail blog when watching my daughter do the patented “carpet face plant” – thought I was the only one!!
Great job big boy!! Hard to believe it’s all happening so quickly!

Ha! Perfect captions. He looks so damn proud of himself.
(And I just spent an hour reading the fail blog. How did I not know about that?)
Been reading your blog, but no comments up till now. Just wanted to say Dylan is adorable and congrats on sitting up!!
Oh, god. The “first learning to sit” pictures never fail to crack me up.
Yay for sitting up!! And for face plants!! *G* Congrats for getting that first sitting picture!! I think I missed that on all my kids *lol*
hee hee! those pictures are priceless.
LOVE dylan’s “holy crap face” . . . i remeber it fondly from his “rolling over” photo shoot and its just as loveable here! :)
I just love this stage … when he is beginning to become a little person and learning new stuff every day.
Too cute!
Come on now, who here hasn’t had a slo-mo carpet face plant? Well, at least not one that I can remember…
Congrats on Dylan’s latest accomplishment!
For a while, work got in the way of my blog reading, but now I am on maternity and as I sit here and type this one-handedly with a 4 week old newborn tentatively sleeping in my quickly-cramping arm, I have oh so much more time and I wanted to say holy shit you are so so so funny. Thanks for making me laugh (and making the newborn’s head bounce off my chest when I startled him.) I missed you.
HAH! Oh Dylan. He and my daughter are at the same stages and when she sat she was so very impressed wth herself. Love it.
Oh my gosh, he is freaking ADORABLE!
So cute!
“Tiny gorilla stance”. Hilarious!
I love that you can mock/tease your kids without sounding peevish about it.
I would have never guessed from his teeny tiny baby pics he was rocketing towards a future as a ginger. I thought for sure he would be blonde.
Way to go stud! I love the look of pride on his face. Or maybe he was just mimicking the look on his mom’s face. That’s MAH BAYBAY!
Ok, he IS actually mini-JB.
Oh, and of course, very cute pics as usual.
