First things first: this is a sponsored post. I didn’t get paid for what I’m about to share with you, but I did receive a gift certificate to purchase some clothes for my kids. Now, hopefully you know me well enough to believe that I wouldn’t recommend a business to you if I didn’t sincerely like them, but just so everything’s understood: I got some free shit. Well, the boys did. As if they appreciate it, the jelly-smearing ingrates.

So, have you heard of Tea? They seem like a very cool little company with a unique approach to children’s wear. Apparently each year their designers visit a different part of the world to find inspiration for a particular collection, so they end up creating kids’ clothes that evoke things like street graffiti in Barcelona and vintage Mexican coffee bags. In fact, everyone at Tea receives an annual allowance to use toward international travel, which is a little factoid that makes me like them even more and may or may not have caused me to eyeball their Careers page. (Damn you, lack of marketable skills!)

Tea sounds like a groovy workplace and all that, but what I really like is their clothes. I suspect parents of girls have a much easier time finding attractive outfits for their kids than I do, because I sure notice a lot of cute girl stuff when I’m poking around Target or Old Navy or wherever, but I swear that once your boy is out of the young toddler stage clothes really start to suck. Hard. I mean, okay, Riley loves all those awful merchandising tie-in shirts festooned with LEGO Star Wars Spiderman Looney Tunes Etc, and both my kids are perfectly fine with the ugly-colored sports-themed crap, but sometimes I just want to dress them in something that doesn’t make them look like that scene from Pulp Fiction. You know the one.

“Dorks. They look like a couple of dorks.”

Which is why I kind of fell in love with the Tea Collection boys clothes. Their girls’ outfits are quite nice as well, but can I get an amen for boyswear that not only isn’t hideous, it’s downright awesome? Plus, the prices are very decent—most of the shirts I picked out were around $13.00 or so.

Here’s Riley modeling a few of his new shirts:

I think his favorite is the orange diving tee, but mine is definitely the blue hoodie.

Dylan was less interested in being photographed, but here he’s sporting his new HORSE! shirt.

Hello, could this be more perfect for him? (I also got him this layered tee, because BULLSHIRT!)

Cute designs, seem like good quality, shipped in a timely manner, arrived in a nice package, placing a phone order was super easy and unusually pleasant, customer service was top notch. I am totally a new fan of Tea, and if you have kids to clothe I think you might like them too.

Tea would like to offer one of you lucky ducks a $75 gift certificate, so if you’d like a chance at the giveaway, go ahead and leave a comment (any comment is fine, just be sure and include your email address so I can get in touch if the random number thingamajigger picks you). I’ll post the winner . . . oh, let’s say by Monday morning, okay? The only bummer is that Tea doesn’t yet ship internationally (which is a bit ironic, don’t you think, Alanis?), so unfortunately this is limited to the U.S. for now.

Thanks for enduring all my clothing-related blather! I hope you have a great weekend coming up.

**Comments are now closed, and I’ll announce the winner in a separate post. Thanks for participating!**

Love the Pulp Fiction reference!

Awesome clothes – you can never go wrong with gray and orange!

I SO hear you on the boys clothes. With a 6 year old and a 1 year old to dress, I run into this problem all the time. This looks like some fabulous stuff! Thanks for the recommendation…

Cute boy clothes ARE hard to come by, that’s for sure — and I love the bullshirt! (But it’s really easy to forget to type the r, I just discovered…)

I have gotten their catalog for awhile now, but never ordered anything. My son is also leaving the toddler years behind and I’m just noticing that his clothing options have suddenly become very limited!

OK, so I can’t enter this (damn international delivery hassles – why do US firms never do international?) but I thought you might be interested in this link: it’s for a British company which bizarrely does deliver to Australia, Canada and a whole slew of other places, doesn’t deliver to the US (I swear this isn’t just to piss you off…!) but which does do adorable, fun boys’ clothes (I only have girls and have many things from this place, but have bought stuff for gifts for boys). If you were really interested, we could probably come to an arrangement for me to send you stuff… http://www.boden.co.uk/en-GB/Boys-Tops-T-shirts.html#nav

Right there with ya on the frustration over the lack of decent little boys wear. I don’t want my kids to look like they’ve had more than their fair share of concussions at 3 and 5, nor do I want them to look like a bunch of preppy tight wads. Dressing girls is ironically and seemingly so much less of a task.

Hi hear you, boys clothes are so hard to find. I mostly shop mini-boden off season for great boy clothes. I loved tea when he was smaller but haven’t checked out their older boys stuff. Yet.

I adore Tea. I have girls, so it is pretty easy to find cute stuff, but the unique, international styles like those from Tea are not so easy to find. Not to mention my tween may actually wear one of their dresses.

Oh, I love Tea. My daughter had the cutest tunic and legging set (I’m guessing inspired by a trip to Japan) when she was learning to walk. I had forgotten about them — great reminder!

1)Don’t even get me started on how there are still cute clothes on the girl’s SALES rack and not even any clothes for boys.. sigh.

2) I was hoping for further irony, thinking you’d mentioned a TEA party here (https://www.sundrymourning.com/page/9/?s=barf), but no, it was a cocktail party… still.. “So.. HORSE?” Makes me laugh every time I think of it.

I, also, loved the blue hoodie on your son!

I do find it interesting that I am much more able to tolerate (with eye rolling) the princess/fairy/hellokitty constant branding on my daughter, over the spongebob/footballlogo/dumptruck branding on my son. I’m not sure why. Is it that the girl stuff is cuter? Or that I believe that someday my daughter will realize that she does not want to be a fairy when she grows up and that most of the disney princess stories are filled with shallow people with poor decision making skills? Whereas my son: he may very well emulate spongebob/football players for life.

What a great concept with world collections. My son loves the shark and turtle shirts. I agree with the other viewers about the crappy Disney Princess/Buzz Lightyear/Spongebob items. Thanks for the recommendation!

I agree with having a hard time finding cool clothes for boys. Tea looks like they have some great stuff- thanks for the tip. You might want to check out shirt woot; a new shirt each day and only $10. My son loves the shirts from there.

I feel your pain about boys clothes! When they are 3, all the construction truck tees are fine, but once they are in grade school, non-sucky shirts are HARD to find!

I’m going to have to send over one of my colleagues to get them set up with international shipping – ’cause everyone with boys all over the world should not have them have to wear Buzz Lightyear t-shirts.
