First things first: this is a sponsored post. I didn’t get paid for what I’m about to share with you, but I did receive a gift certificate to purchase some clothes for my kids. Now, hopefully you know me well enough to believe that I wouldn’t recommend a business to you if I didn’t sincerely like them, but just so everything’s understood: I got some free shit. Well, the boys did. As if they appreciate it, the jelly-smearing ingrates.

So, have you heard of Tea? They seem like a very cool little company with a unique approach to children’s wear. Apparently each year their designers visit a different part of the world to find inspiration for a particular collection, so they end up creating kids’ clothes that evoke things like street graffiti in Barcelona and vintage Mexican coffee bags. In fact, everyone at Tea receives an annual allowance to use toward international travel, which is a little factoid that makes me like them even more and may or may not have caused me to eyeball their Careers page. (Damn you, lack of marketable skills!)

Tea sounds like a groovy workplace and all that, but what I really like is their clothes. I suspect parents of girls have a much easier time finding attractive outfits for their kids than I do, because I sure notice a lot of cute girl stuff when I’m poking around Target or Old Navy or wherever, but I swear that once your boy is out of the young toddler stage clothes really start to suck. Hard. I mean, okay, Riley loves all those awful merchandising tie-in shirts festooned with LEGO Star Wars Spiderman Looney Tunes Etc, and both my kids are perfectly fine with the ugly-colored sports-themed crap, but sometimes I just want to dress them in something that doesn’t make them look like that scene from Pulp Fiction. You know the one.

“Dorks. They look like a couple of dorks.”

Which is why I kind of fell in love with the Tea Collection boys clothes. Their girls’ outfits are quite nice as well, but can I get an amen for boyswear that not only isn’t hideous, it’s downright awesome? Plus, the prices are very decent—most of the shirts I picked out were around $13.00 or so.

Here’s Riley modeling a few of his new shirts:

I think his favorite is the orange diving tee, but mine is definitely the blue hoodie.

Dylan was less interested in being photographed, but here he’s sporting his new HORSE! shirt.

Hello, could this be more perfect for him? (I also got him this layered tee, because BULLSHIRT!)

Cute designs, seem like good quality, shipped in a timely manner, arrived in a nice package, placing a phone order was super easy and unusually pleasant, customer service was top notch. I am totally a new fan of Tea, and if you have kids to clothe I think you might like them too.

Tea would like to offer one of you lucky ducks a $75 gift certificate, so if you’d like a chance at the giveaway, go ahead and leave a comment (any comment is fine, just be sure and include your email address so I can get in touch if the random number thingamajigger picks you). I’ll post the winner . . . oh, let’s say by Monday morning, okay? The only bummer is that Tea doesn’t yet ship internationally (which is a bit ironic, don’t you think, Alanis?), so unfortunately this is limited to the U.S. for now.

Thanks for enduring all my clothing-related blather! I hope you have a great weekend coming up.

**Comments are now closed, and I’ll announce the winner in a separate post. Thanks for participating!**

Hell to the ya on the hard to find cute boys clothes. My twins got a few things for Christmas from Tea, and they were so cute, I pretended that the kids hadn’t outgrown them! Sometimes they have really good clearance sales at the end of a season.

I love Tea! I’m so with you on the boy clothes…girls’ stuff is so much cuter! Of course I’m having a boy in September. OF COURSE. But the gift cert would help!

Say, those aren’t bad prices at all! And pretty cute boy stuff! I am so sick of seeing stupid “Major Trouble” and “He did it!” shirts. Man, parents of girls have it so much easier.

I get tons of hand-me-downs for my preschooler girl (not complaining) so I’m actually looking forward to shopping for my newborn boy. Kinda glad he’s a boy so I won’t spend gobs of money on too many cute clothes. But it would be nice to get stuff that’s not just Hey Slugger and Trucks! The Tea stuff for boys looks awesome.

I received a cute dress for my daughter for her first birthday from Tea, but I had no idea until reading this what a cool company they are. I’d love to be able to get all three kiddos some new duds…fingers crossed :)

My boy has just grown out of 5T clothes at Old Navy and too boy, there’s a vast expanse of NOTHING over on the other side of the store, you know? I do not want garish, skull-filled, sport-themed, superhero festooned clothes. A graphic, yes, but something cooler, you know? Tea looks perfect – next time Kieran needs clothes I will certainly look here.

Thanks for the giveaway!

I love this company already! I hadn’t heard of them until now, so thank you. This would be perfect for back-to-school shopping. (BTW, I totally know what you mean about shopping for boy clothes.)

Well, I love drinking tea while reading this awesome blog. So, chances are I’ll also like the Tea brand. –Especially if it can help me find boy clothes that are original and interesting. If I have to shove my poor little pea into one more shirt with a dumb doggy aplique, I might stick a fork in my eye. Thanks for the tip.

I absolutely agree that it’s hard to find nice clothes for boys. I love the quality and care of design that Tea puts into their clothes. I would love the chance to win a prize from them :-)

Five and a half years ago I couldn’t find a ‘take home from hospital’ outfit for my soon to be born baby boy that I actually liked. Then I found the most amazing set from Tea. The lotus print is so sweet and simple.
I have since purchased many Tea items and while some of the shirts run a tad small, I have no other complaints. Great quality and fun styles for my two boys (I hear ya on the DORKS, Linda!)

My wife loves Tea, because of the cool clothes they offer. I love Tea because it lets my wife buy my kids cool clothes that I don’t get in (major) trouble when I mis-match tops with bottoms.

Oh! Cute boy clothes! That don’t have rude sayings plastered on them or grim death symbols or huge graphics of shows that my boys don’t watch.

I’ll have to check this place out!

Their Daily Tea clothes are cute too and a little less than the tea line….their clothes all hold up so well, too…so they can smear jelly all they want….well not really you know what I mean!

I love Tea and their clothes are made well. I have even been lucky enough to have found them at a consignment store and they have lasted, only to be handed down to someone else because they were outgrown. I also like them because they don’t look like everyone else.

Ah, Bullshirt! When I was in high school back in the 60s/70s, a boy wore a shirt that said “Bullshirt” on it and our English teacher had a FIT and threw the student out of class. I hadn’t thought of that in decades, yet I still remember both the student’s name and the teacher’s name. The kid was usually no trouble, and the teacher was ordinarily mild-mannered. For some reason, this shirt really ticked him off, though. I’d love a gift-certificate for my next-door neighbor’s boys…no grandkids yet.
