OK I’m ridiculously late to this since I was out of town, but I am a HP fan, although it was touch and go with the first probably four books for me. I only kept going because I am out and proud about my sci fi/fantasy geekness. I didn’t really love them. I didn’t start getting interested until book 5 and then books 6 and 7 I’ve become an addict. Still, although I like them, they do take a lot of time to read (particularly since I have a child and job occupying most of my days) and they are not the best fantasy out there, so I say there is no reason to force yourself to read the rest unless you have a sci fi/fantasy geek reputation to uphold ;-)
