Can you even imagine a better scenario for Dog while we’re away from home? I mean, my GOD. Seriously. I am so thankful for Valria and her amazing generosity and the clearly superior lifestyle she has provided for Dog, goddamn.

In other news, I have almost no news, really. Things have been enjoyable and mild and the hours are just flying by, and it’s apparent to me that I am about a thousand million times happier with other people around while staying at home with the boys. I mean, that’s sort of a no-shitter, and yet it’s been a surprise, this visit, how entirely pleasant it’s been. Except for the tines-up utensils in the dishwasher, which ARE YOU KIDDING COME ON DO YOU WANT TO FUCKING STAB YOUR HAND-MEAT OR WHAT.

I miss talking to you and I miss hearing from you. So can we play a game, just so I have an excuse to hear from you: tell me, who are your all-time top movie crushes?

Here are mine:

• Ed Harris, as his character in The Abyss (the ring-being-caught-in-the-door scene in that movie is the very reason JB has a titanium wedding ring)
• Johnny Depp, especially in the first Pirates of the Caribbean movie
• Nicolas Cage in Wild At Heart

Your turn!

John Cusack in Say Anything and The Sure Thing. I used to hope he would knock on the door of the house I was babysitting in and then conveniently become trapped there with me during a blizzard.

Daniel Craig in Casino Royale. Because he is amazing and British and those eyes!

Jude Law in The Holiday. I know he is a total shit who shags the nanny, but oh, my.

Colin Firth. Mr. Darcy. Oh my. I also confess to loving Matthew MacFayden in the most recent Pride and Prejudice.

Current most recent crush is James MacAvoy in anything, though I did not care for Atonement.

Oooh, this is worth being late to work for:

1) Johnny Depp in pretty much anything … let’s go with Gilbert Grape for now
2) Brad Pitt in Fight Club
3) Harrison Ford in any of the original (can’t believe I have to clarify this) Indiana Jones movies
4) My first-ever movie crush was on the guy who played opposite the young Katherine Heigl in the 1991 classic (ha!) My Father the Hero … I believe his name is Dalton James. So hot.

Johnny Depp in anything
Mel Gibson in Lethal Weapon
A.J. from Empire Records
Both Skeet Ulrich and Matthew Lillard (um, ew) from Scream
I KNOW there are some really obvious ones I am missing but I’ll have to update later when they come to mind…

Glad to hear you are having a good time, company can sometimes be a life saver!

Hmm all time top movie crushes – that shouldn’t be too difficult:

* Alan Rickman – Sense and Sensibility
* Patrick Swayze – Dirty Dancing (predictable I know)
* Hugh Grant – Mickey Blue Eyes (urgh now I need to go and wash my mouth out with soap…)

Nothing shocking, previous crushes have included Sean Connery, Steve Martin, David Duchovny & Mark Harmon

Life at Valria’s house looks like doggie heaven. I love the “sleeping together with her new best friend” photos. Maybe Dog can go for visits even after you’re home!

Movie crushes, I seem to go for the older guys. For example:
(1) Gregory Peck in “Roman Holiday”
(2) Burt Lancaster in “Field of Dreams” (his twilight years)
(3) I also thought Ed Harris was great in “The Abyss” and just watched that movie last weekend on AMC.
(4) Pierce Brosnan in “The Thomas Crowne Affair” (the 1999 version)

1- Cary Grant. Oh, that man. Seriously hot and dashing debonair.
2- Johnny Depp in anything, but he’s REALLY great as a river rat in “Chocolat”. Mmmm!
3- Colin Firth, Alan Rickman, and Hugh Grant. Can I get a hells-yes for my favorite British men? They all rock Jane Austen.
4- Joseph Fiennes in “Shakespeare in Love”. My husband likes the movie just because he reaps the benefits, if’n you know what I mean.

Colin Firth in ‘Bridget Jones’, particularly when he’s lying in bed and says to her, “I like your squishy bits” … the expression on his face when he says that? PHWOAR!!! Also as the other Mr Darcy in ‘P & P’ … oh that wet, clinging shirt :).

I’d quite like to bite Alan Rickman’s lips on any given day, particularly when he’s reading poetry to Marianne in ‘S & s’ and, frankly, I’d like to roll with naked voluptousness in his voice. I’d also really rather like to make babies with the voice of Joe, the husband-dude from ‘Medium’. Yes, I have quite the aural fixation indeed.

Hmmmmm, also, love, love, looooove John Corbett as ‘Chris in the Morning’ on ‘Northern’, John Cusack no matter what, Sidney Poitier and Gregory Peck = BEAUTIFUL and oh God, yeah, Johnny Depp in ANYTHING.

Damn there are a lot of fine looking men out there! Here are my nominees:

Bruce Willis old die hard style, so sweaty and dirty (I really like Clive Owen in shoot em up, are you getting the theme here?)

Carey Elwes in Princess Bride sort of morphed with Matthew Modine in Cutthroat Island

Denzel Washington in Mississippi Masala, yumyumyum!

John Cusack and Johnny Depp in practically anything!

Say no more, otherwise I wont stop!

Ooh, how could I forget one more: Daniel Radcliffe. Now that he’s 18, I can proclaim him as HOT! Especially in his publicity shots for the play he’s in (Equuis, sp?). What a six-pack he has!

I can’t believe I’m admitting to this, but when I was little my grandparents had a tape of Going Bananas (which has the following review on imdb: Probably the most unfunny comedy ever.) I loved it. And I had the hugest crush on the kid, who evidently is David Mendenhall? Whatever, I was 10. And totally in love.
In high school I was obsessed with Matt Damon (in anything). Can I cheat, though, and say right now I would probably sleep with about 30% of the cast of Lost. Particularly Sayid.

Oh, I have to agree with your first commenter – John Cusack in The Sure Thing. LOVED that movie when I was a teen. In more recent years, Colin Firth as Mr. Darcy in Pride and Prejudice (the long BBC version). I could watch that movie over and over again.

I don’t know his real life name, but “Jake” from Sixteen Candles…I LOVED him when that movie came out!

Colin Firth in anything really.

Jude Law in The Holiday

Brad Pitt in that movie where he shags his brother’s wife and has long hair and looks dreamy…

megan

Nathan Fillon – in Serenity, Waitress, Slither…anything really.

Ryan Reynolds – I didn’t think much of him in that show 2 Guys, a Girl and a Pizza Place, but then I saw him in Blade 3 (can’t believe I am admitting that) and must now see him in everything he is in.

Brendan Fraser – any of the Mummy movies. And anything else around that time frame to now. He just gets better with age.

(hmmmmm. I seem to have a thing for the same type of guy – those personalities are all similar)

John Cusack – in anything.

Colin Firth – He is the dreamiest Mr Darcy ever. God bless the DVD.

Patrick Dempsy – in With Honors. He’s completely dreamy now as well, but the first time I saw that movie and realized how HOT he had become after he grew up from Can’t Buy Me Love…sighhhhhhh.

Not a movie, but I love James Spader in Boston Legal. He’s so complicated, witty and intelligent.

1. Steve McQueen in Love with the Perfect Stranger. Oh, my favorite bad boy/stud muffin of all time. Hot hot, starting with Wanted: Dead or Alive TV series in the 50s.
2. Sean Connery – that voice, yum.
3. Beautiful Denzel in anything, especially Glory
4. Cary Grant, but of course
5. Djimon Hounsou in In America & Blood Diamond
5. Ken Wantanabe in Last Samurai

Mel Gibson in Anything, before he got to old
Matthew McConahey (however you spell it) in ten things…(I married a man even more wonderful)
The dude in my big fat greek wedding, also because he loved a fat chick and I qualify for that catagory.

That’s all I can think of.

So glad you had a great time with your in-laws. I personally am too socially awkward to spend that much time with mine. Although they are nice enough, I am just a misfit.
Your pictures are beautiful.

oh oh oh and Brad Pitt in Meet Joe Black. Holy God in Heaven, that man.

Also, I cannot remember the name of the movie for the life of me, but the one that Bruce Willis is a cop and a bunch of women that he has dated are getting killed, and come to find out his uncle and cousin are in on it and are crazy. He lives in some boat house or something like that, it’s old school….but Bruce is HOT in it.

p.s. Brad Pitt in Legends of the Fall, which is the movie several have referred to. I’ll watch that every damn time it’s on, just for him. Aiden Quinn ain’t too shabby in it, either.

Oh, yeah, Indiana Jones… woo, hotness.
I’m also a sucker for Sean Connery and Pierce Brosnen as James Bond – the accents, the killing.
Though I also adore Jake Glyllenhal in Donnie Darko, which is probably not okay to admit since he’s supposed to be a disturbed high school kid and all that.

I think I have a thing for dangerous movie guys.

I’m right there with all the dirty old women and their Daniel Radcliffe crushes.

And Johnny Depp..

Alan Rickman – if you’re looking for a great, older movie with him, check out “Truly, Madly, Deeply.”

And Jason Statham. It’s due to him that I finally allowed my balding husband to shave his head to stubble.

Hugh Jackman.

And, for the inner TV-geek – David Tennant. (Doctor Who.)

OOh, fun game!

Daniel Craig in Casino Royale. OMG.

George Clooney in Out Of Sight. Kind of a bumbling criminal with a soft side.

Viggo Mortensen in LOTR. I think there’s a couple of comments that include him and I certainly can’t disagree.

River Phoenix – Running on Empty.

On to the list!

Liev Schreiber (Mixed Nuts, RKO 281, Narrating ANYTHING)
Jake Gyllenhaal (Donnie Darko)
Viggo Mortensen (Eastern Promises)
Jimmy Stewart (Rear Window)

I’m sure there are a skillion more, but that’s what’s coming to me after only one cup of coffee!

I tend to not fall as much for men in movies. I prefer my guys on television. A movie is so fleeting – it’s a quick two hour roll in the hay. A television boyfriend is a sustained relationship, except without any of the bad smells and the nagging to share the ice cream.

That said, John Krasinski from “The Office.” B.J. Novak from “The Office.” Ed Helms from “The Office.” Rashida Jones from “The Office.” Jenna Fischer from “The Office.” Really, if they have been near the set of “The Office,” I likely have the hots for them.

Lee Pace from “Pushing Daisies” and “Wonderfalls,” and also from the recent movie “Miss Pettigrew Lives For A Day” in which the incredibly wise choice was made to have him all scruffy-like and speaking in a British accent.
