Meet Callie:
We adopted her today from the Humane Society, and she is as sweet as can be.
I thought it might take her a while to warm up to us, but no. She’s super affectionate and mellow.
She’s pretty curious about exploring her new digs, though, which I suppose is to be expected.
I have been going back and forth to the Humane Society for weeks now, obsessing over various cats. I was worried about finding the right ageāthe shelters are filled with beautiful older cats, but I was concerned how a senior pet would adjust to a house filled with rambunctious noisy-ass children. Callie is 2, and she seems to be doing just fine so far.
I LIKE HER SO MUCH YOU GUYS.
AWWWWW….what a pretty kitty!
awwwww, sweet!
what a sweetie! congrats on the newest addition to the family!
awww. *big hug* I am so proud of you! I know how much you loved Dog and Cat and how hard it can be to get a new pet.
I started volunteering with a feral cat spay/neuter clinic and it is amazing how many cats live on the streets.
I am glad this one found you. And it is not obsessing – it is like falling in love. You gotta check out a bunch, test drive some and then you find the one.
PS: JB w/ cat – CA-UTE!!
What a beautiful cat! We got our dog from a rescue shelter and my 6-year-old son loves telling everyone how we rescued him. I think it’s something to be quite proud of too.
Fabulous looking kitty! We’ve had 5 cats over the years – all adopted from the humane society. The first 3 all lived to be 17+ years. The two with us now were about 1 when we adopted them and we are hoping for another 15 years with them. I think cats bring out the gentleness in our boys and men and it’s quite lovely to see. Cats are the best! :)
she’s a beauty! congrats!
I love her!! She reminds me of a cat my college roommate had named Bear. An odd name for a cuddly, affectionate sweetheart of a kitty. I’m glad you a new Cat. Welcome to the Sundry family, Callie. :)
Congrats and thank you for adopting a shelter kitty!! :D She is GORGEOUS!
So gorgeous – look at that bushy tail!
Yay! I love adopting adult cats because you know what personality they’ll have. And so cute!
She’s so pretty. My favorite pet growing up was a cat named Callie.
Pets are such a fun thing for young kids.
I think you guys should try toilet training her…mostly so we can read what you have to say about it. *snicker*
AWWW I like her too.
The all caps at the end made me smile. She’s so lovely!
She’s so adorable. I recently adopted a tortie kitten, and my best friend adopted a little calico much like yours (whose name is also Cali)…they are such sweet, friendly kitties and it’s fascinating to look at all their blotches and splotches up close. Congrats on your new little fuzzy baby!
Oh, she’s so pretty!
She’s beautiful. And kudos to you guys for adopting an older cat. I also adopted my two girls at the ages of 2 (they are now 6) and it was the best thing ever to get them out of the shelter and into their new home.
Enjoy your new fuzzy, purry friend. :))
Oh, congrats! She is just gorgeous! I can’t to see more photos of her. :)
that kitty is ADORABLE.
This makes me so insanely smiley! She is gorgeous and I’m so happy for you guys!
Okay, so if you can’t tell, I like cats JUST a little…
Good for you guys! I don’t know firsthand, but can imagine how hard it must be to choose a new pet…. Callie is gorgeous — love the splotchy face! — I’m sure she’ll fit right in with you guys :)
Congrats on the new addition! She’s beautiful
She’s beautiful.
And I totally cried reading this.
It’s like you know, a new baby!
Adorable, congrats!
Such a beautiful girl. So glad that you rescued a kitty and give her a great home and life.
Oh, she’s a beauty. Seriously. Love her crazy markings. She looks like she might have some Maine Coon in her.
Kudos to you for adopting from the shelter, and an adult at that. She looks like the perfect fit for your family.
Congratulations!
Don’t you mean someone “mew”?
Sorry …
P.S. Adopting an older cat is the way to go! :)
She looks so sweet. Congratulations!
So happy for you!
She’s a beautiful addition to your family. The pic of JB looks like he has an Afalfa sprout on his head from the door ajar behind him!
She is SO pretty. I love her coloring.
Welcome home, Callie!
Congrats on your new addition, but I have to tell you, when I read the subject line in my email, I really thought you were going to tell us that you were preggo’s! lol :)
Congrats! She is beautiful. I’m glad she is settling in nicely. What do the boys think of her?
Okay, I gotta say it. The bit of black between the door and frame above JB’s head makes him look like a Kewpie doll or Alfalfa from the Little Rascals all growed up….
So cute! Calicos are the best!
She is very cute and looks like a real sweetheart. Congratulations on the new addition to the family!
Alton and John have the same barber.
She is *beautiful*!
Congratulations!
I had a beautiful silver-shaded persion with gorgeous green eyes a few years ago. She was a sweet, gentle little thing who loved nothing more than lying on your lap for the whole evening. But…the long hair. It gets matted. Really bad. And needs to be combed. Which. I. Don’t. Do. So it then needs to be shaved. Which. She. Hated.
She died a few years ago (she was 16 years old) and although I loved her a great deal, I swore I would never get another long-haired cat.
We now have a domestic short hair (orange, also very affectionate). And all is right with the world.
She’s darling. Two is perfect. Past the batshit destructo kitten phase. Well done, team.
How could you not like her so much? She is absolutely gorgeous!
Congrats!
Adorable. And I’m not even a cat person!
She is precious and yea for you for adopting an older cat!
She’s gorgeous. Too bad she’s so shy. :) Looks like a perfect match.
She is so pretty!! I’m completely envious as I can’t have animals.
What a pretty kitty. Careful what you start. We now have 3 cats, all shelter/strays. Apparently we have a hard time saying no to a furry face. Congrats on giving Callie a wonderful new life.
Pretty girl!
The cat picks the person you know. :) What a lovely addition to your family.
Oh good, I’m not the only one who got teary. She is a gorgeous fluffball! Ahh, I love the splodgy face:)
She is beautiful! And I love the name, because my 8yr old’s name is Callie, too. :)
Oh holy crap is that the cutest cat. I think I’ve turned into a crazy cat lady because few things make me happier than petting my cats. The purring is soothing you know?
