First things first: this is a sponsored post. I didn’t get paid for what I’m about to share with you, but I did receive a gift certificate to purchase some clothes for my kids. Now, hopefully you know me well enough to believe that I wouldn’t recommend a business to you if I didn’t sincerely like them, but just so everything’s understood: I got some free shit. Well, the boys did. As if they appreciate it, the jelly-smearing ingrates.
So, have you heard of Tea? They seem like a very cool little company with a unique approach to children’s wear. Apparently each year their designers visit a different part of the world to find inspiration for a particular collection, so they end up creating kids’ clothes that evoke things like street graffiti in Barcelona and vintage Mexican coffee bags. In fact, everyone at Tea receives an annual allowance to use toward international travel, which is a little factoid that makes me like them even more and may or may not have caused me to eyeball their Careers page. (Damn you, lack of marketable skills!)
Tea sounds like a groovy workplace and all that, but what I really like is their clothes. I suspect parents of girls have a much easier time finding attractive outfits for their kids than I do, because I sure notice a lot of cute girl stuff when I’m poking around Target or Old Navy or wherever, but I swear that once your boy is out of the young toddler stage clothes really start to suck. Hard. I mean, okay, Riley loves all those awful merchandising tie-in shirts festooned with LEGO Star Wars Spiderman Looney Tunes Etc, and both my kids are perfectly fine with the ugly-colored sports-themed crap, but sometimes I just want to dress them in something that doesn’t make them look like that scene from Pulp Fiction. You know the one.
“Dorks. They look like a couple of dorks.”
Which is why I kind of fell in love with the Tea Collection boys clothes. Their girls’ outfits are quite nice as well, but can I get an amen for boyswear that not only isn’t hideous, it’s downright awesome? Plus, the prices are very decent—most of the shirts I picked out were around $13.00 or so.
Here’s Riley modeling a few of his new shirts:
I think his favorite is the orange diving tee, but mine is definitely the blue hoodie.
Dylan was less interested in being photographed, but here he’s sporting his new HORSE! shirt.
Hello, could this be more perfect for him? (I also got him this layered tee, because BULLSHIRT!)
Cute designs, seem like good quality, shipped in a timely manner, arrived in a nice package, placing a phone order was super easy and unusually pleasant, customer service was top notch. I am totally a new fan of Tea, and if you have kids to clothe I think you might like them too.
Tea would like to offer one of you lucky ducks a $75 gift certificate, so if you’d like a chance at the giveaway, go ahead and leave a comment (any comment is fine, just be sure and include your email address so I can get in touch if the random number thingamajigger picks you). I’ll post the winner . . . oh, let’s say by Monday morning, okay? The only bummer is that Tea doesn’t yet ship internationally (which is a bit ironic, don’t you think, Alanis?), so unfortunately this is limited to the U.S. for now.
Thanks for enduring all my clothing-related blather! I hope you have a great weekend coming up.
**Comments are now closed, and I’ll announce the winner in a separate post. Thanks for participating!**
I LOVE Tea, but usually buy their clothes second-hand (which says something about their quality). Would love to get some new duds for the new school year!
I had never heard of Tea until this post, but anytime I can find decent (i.e. no skulls, no skater crap, no characters) clothes for my two boys makes, AMEN! Thanks for sharing.
These are great! Cute boy clothes ARE so much harder to find!
I’ve never heard of Tea but love the idea of finding some clothes for my 3 yr old boy that aren’t branded with superheros.
Your boys look great! My girls are, yes, fairly easy to shop for now (they’re 4 and 2) but what I’m not looking forward to is clothes shopping in a few years when all that’s in the stores is little hoochie-mama stuff for girls.
I know some little guys who’d love the pirate shirts!
Love their girl’s clothing! I recognize their logo, but I can’t say ive ever gotte anything from them! Hope I win! My oldest just outgrew almost everything she owns! Lol
LOVE Tea! And now I’m sold on the blue hoodie!
I love it!!
Wow! Those are all really nice looking! I am soon to have my second boy and it is growing increasingly more difficult to find cute clothes for my toddler. Thanks for the recommendation.
Ohhh, I love that pirate shirt! I’m going to have to go check these guys out!
Looking at the baby girl dresses, I kinda want some of these in my size. Heh. So cute!
LOOOVE the hoodie! (a perfect leash when I’m trying to corral the kids at the grocery store! WHAT?! HMM… UH, what I meant to say was I love a shirt that multi-functions!)
I can’t tell you the number of times I’ve bitched about the boy clothes available at stores. It’s like they purposely buy adorable girl clothes and slovenly looking boy clothes! And if they do happen (God forbid!) to get a cute boy outfit, they only buy two of each size so they run out. GRRRRRR. I’m with you – the blue hoodie totally rocks. Sounds like Tea offers everything a mom could want in a store!
I’d really like to get my son the pirate shirt, but he has some strange irrational fear of anything pirate (the pig pirates from Dora, pirates on Backyardigans, what?), so that may be kind of cruel. Of course, he can’t read, it would just be a boat shirt to him.
Totally agree that it is hard to find nice clothes for boys. Would love to win the gift card so I can send my 9 year old off to school in style next week. Thanks!
Just want to say, I really appreciate that you put “sponsored post” way up at the top. It makes all the difference. Thanks.
Cute clothes! I especially like the hoodie and the tshirts.
I love the Tea clothes! And I would love some more.
This is my first exposure to Tea and it looks great!
I love Tea! I got some baby clothes as a shower gift a couple of years ago and fell in love. I could definitely use some bigger-kid clothes for my 4 and 2 year old.
First things first: WHEN DID RILEY GET SO BIG?! He looks like a teenager with his glove on and I can not get over that he was once that suspicious baby. Seriously blows my mind.
Also, so glad to see that Dylan is still all HORSE! and stuff. I like consistency.
AND AMEN ON UGLY BOYS’ CLOTHES. My stepson is two so he’s still in that cute/fun clothes stage, but I’m already rolling my eyes at all of the damn LIGHT UP SPIDERMAN T SHIRTS his aunt has given us. Hideous.
I hear you on the lack of cute boys’ clothes. They either look like babies or hoodlums. Thanks for the shopping advice!
Great clothes! I have never heard of the company so thanks for posting.
My daughter was looking over my shoulder as I was looking at the clothes, saying, “I want that…and that…oooh and that!”
I love Tea! My daughter has had a couple of their dresses, and I’m looking forward to checking out their boys stuff for my baby boy.
Thanks for your blog! I really enjoy reading it. I also think Tea clothes are great. I like flipping through their catalog when it comes.
Cute boy clothes that don’t cost and arm and a leg? Count me in! I had never heard of Tea, but they have some adorable stuff.
I have a 3 year old son that would LOVE their shirts!
Cute stuff! Pick me!
Ooh! I got a really cool camel Tea tshirt for my boy at a consignment sale a couple of years and I loved it!
I love the Pulp Fiction reference–you are so right!
I had never heard of them before. I love the idea of international travel as a perk of a job! I’m also coveting some of the dresses, so I hope I win!
Cool clothes? Not Disney? I’m so in!
I love your blog and Tea brand, thanks!!
Those Tea clothes are sweet!
Sorry, Southerner that couldn’t resist.
Love Dylan’s HORSE! shirt! Where did all of his chub go? ;.( He’s a little man now. My almost 4 yr old boy would LOVE some of these shirts so maybe if he’s really good he might get some for his b-day! BULLSHIRT! Happy Friday!
I loveTea!
And I love you!
And I love free stuff!
A match made in heaven, no?
Oh lord. I need this.
We got our daughter one of their dresses for her first birthday party. Their clothes are both very cute and completely practical (jersey dresses in cute, multi colored – aka stain hiding – patterns FTW).
Ah, my boy could really use some cute clothes. Baby Gap is WAY too expensive, IMO!
Love Tea. I buy my 3 yr old girl tea clothes but I’ve never really looked at their boy clothes (despite having 2 boys!). I need to start cause those clothes look cute too!
I have two boys and totally agree on how hard it can be to find them decent clothes. I’ll be checking out Tea. Thanks!
Okay, I admit it – I don’t have any kids. But! If I win the gift certificate, I will donate it to the local animal shelter so they can put it in one of their raffle-off gift baskets. Okay? Okay.
I rarely comment, but I could totally use this as I have no clothes for my daughter past the 6 month size. Everyone showers you with newborn clothes then leaves you hanging once your kid gets to be 6 months old!
Love the shirts, the blue hoodie is my fav as well, and I would LOVE LOVE to get some non-cartoony themed clothes for my son!
Those clothes look great!
I have a four and a half year old nephew, so he’s definitely in that stage of being hard to find cute clothes for. Tea looks like an awesome company. Thanks for sharing it!
HORSE. How awesome that they had a horse shirt!
First time commenter, long time reader. Well at least a year, and I do love your blog. You say a lot of the things that I think but don’t voice in regards to child rearing and such. I have a five year old boy and can’t stand sports related wear and all the advertisement crap (Marvel,Lego)that’s out there which leaves me with NO choices. So thanks for the Tea introduction!
I love Tea clothes for my son. And I’m with you on that blue hoodie–adorable!
