First things first: this is a sponsored post. I didn’t get paid for what I’m about to share with you, but I did receive a gift certificate to purchase some clothes for my kids. Now, hopefully you know me well enough to believe that I wouldn’t recommend a business to you if I didn’t sincerely like them, but just so everything’s understood: I got some free shit. Well, the boys did. As if they appreciate it, the jelly-smearing ingrates.
So, have you heard of Tea? They seem like a very cool little company with a unique approach to children’s wear. Apparently each year their designers visit a different part of the world to find inspiration for a particular collection, so they end up creating kids’ clothes that evoke things like street graffiti in Barcelona and vintage Mexican coffee bags. In fact, everyone at Tea receives an annual allowance to use toward international travel, which is a little factoid that makes me like them even more and may or may not have caused me to eyeball their Careers page. (Damn you, lack of marketable skills!)
Tea sounds like a groovy workplace and all that, but what I really like is their clothes. I suspect parents of girls have a much easier time finding attractive outfits for their kids than I do, because I sure notice a lot of cute girl stuff when I’m poking around Target or Old Navy or wherever, but I swear that once your boy is out of the young toddler stage clothes really start to suck. Hard. I mean, okay, Riley loves all those awful merchandising tie-in shirts festooned with LEGO Star Wars Spiderman Looney Tunes Etc, and both my kids are perfectly fine with the ugly-colored sports-themed crap, but sometimes I just want to dress them in something that doesn’t make them look like that scene from Pulp Fiction. You know the one.
“Dorks. They look like a couple of dorks.”
Which is why I kind of fell in love with the Tea Collection boys clothes. Their girls’ outfits are quite nice as well, but can I get an amen for boyswear that not only isn’t hideous, it’s downright awesome? Plus, the prices are very decent—most of the shirts I picked out were around $13.00 or so.
Here’s Riley modeling a few of his new shirts:
I think his favorite is the orange diving tee, but mine is definitely the blue hoodie.
Dylan was less interested in being photographed, but here he’s sporting his new HORSE! shirt.
Hello, could this be more perfect for him? (I also got him this layered tee, because BULLSHIRT!)
Cute designs, seem like good quality, shipped in a timely manner, arrived in a nice package, placing a phone order was super easy and unusually pleasant, customer service was top notch. I am totally a new fan of Tea, and if you have kids to clothe I think you might like them too.
Tea would like to offer one of you lucky ducks a $75 gift certificate, so if you’d like a chance at the giveaway, go ahead and leave a comment (any comment is fine, just be sure and include your email address so I can get in touch if the random number thingamajigger picks you). I’ll post the winner . . . oh, let’s say by Monday morning, okay? The only bummer is that Tea doesn’t yet ship internationally (which is a bit ironic, don’t you think, Alanis?), so unfortunately this is limited to the U.S. for now.
Thanks for enduring all my clothing-related blather! I hope you have a great weekend coming up.
**Comments are now closed, and I’ll announce the winner in a separate post. Thanks for participating!**
Oooh, sign me up!
And yeah, girls stuff is cute, but when I shop for my daughter, I have to be on Hoochie Alert because a lot of stuff is short and tight and inappropriate.
Love your comments on boy clothes – with one girl and two boys – the girl is much more fun to shop for. Also love the ‘Work Release’ post. With an 8 week old baby and 2 others under 5 – I am greatly looking forward to those days where the children are a little more independent.
They do have the cutest clothes there. Your boys are adorable.
Is so much harder to find boy clothes than girl clothes. I want tea!
My daughter has received Tea dresses as gifts and I can confirm they wash and wear wonderfully. Now I’ll have to go browse the boys’ collection. Love the horse shirt!
Oh my..I just love Tea’s boy clothes. Cute and age appropriate while still being stylish and interesting. Really neat to hear about their travel program, too!
I LOVE TEA!
I am in the same boat with my 2 year old twins! Bring on the cute clothes please! And for free? Even better!
I like cute clothes! I have girls, so cute clothes are not hard to find, but still…
As the mom of two boys, I agree – bring on the cute clothes Tea!
Oooh! Oooh! Randomly pick me! Randomly pick me!
Totally know what you mean about dressing a boy. Luckily my 3 year old will wear whatever I pick out, but of course, those days are numbered!
I sure would like a freebie from Tea! For my boy child!
Cute. Pick me, random number thing!
I’d love to get some shirts for my daughter but what about some adult clothes tea??
Super cute stuff! And I’m with ya on the ugly boys clothes. I hate licensed character anything, but of course that’s what my kid gravitates towards. Doesn’t mean I buy it, but it’s a fight every time.
I always get so annoyed that girls clothes get 75% of the floor space! Boys can be cute, too…at least their mamas want them to look cute while we still have some say so! Tea is very cool…
Adorable!!!! It is so hard to find awesome boys’ clothes. Then I find something wonderful and have to keep myself from putting it on them every single day. Because, trust me, they ask.
Very cute and cool concept! I also approve of your snark sprinkled through, even though it’s a sponsored post.
We’re awaiting the arrival of boy #2 in the next few weeks, so a gift certificate for some new cool duds would be much appreciated!
Tea is my favorite brand to buy my little nephews! The shirts are cute but I think the soft pants and shorts are the best part- they’re like sweatpants but styling.
Love them. I refuse to buy my son the horrible sports-themed stuff in Target etc, which limits my options horribly as he starts to pass beyond the under-5 sizes. Mostly I hold out for hand-me-downs from his rich cousins.
Awesome! I love hearing about great sites like Tea.
random thingamigger…PICK ME PICK ME!!
please please please
Awesome. Fun clothes for kids are always nice. We just hit a growth spurt, and it’s time for new clothes for my little one.
I’ve got a fashionista 11 year old who needs school clothes…come on, Random Number Generator!!!
Also…HORSE!!!! And I’m with you, blue hoodie all the way.
Oh yeah!!! Sign me up!
Cute boy clothes ARE hard to find — thanks for the tip! Crossing my fingers… Dylan must be totally lovin the HORSE!
Yeah…finding nice clothes for boys totally sucks.
Sign me up for some (possible, but probably not) free stuff.
Super cute! The boys and the clothes, of course. And I totally agree, mothers of boys must save so much money – girls stuff is SO much cuter!
I love catchy tshirts!!!
Holla!
Wow, they do have nice stuff. Never heard of them before.
Been following you for a couple years now and have a boy between the ages of yours…so everything you talk about really resonates with me. Keep up the good work and hell yeah on getting in a drawing for free boy clothes that are not crap-tastic!!!!!
Oh my, those clothes are lovely. Please put my name into the virtual hat! :-)
My son just went through a huge growth spurt, so he could definitely use some new threads!
Yeah! Cute little kid clothes. Our daughter is due any day now and I am so over all of the sequins and bright pink on little girls clothes. I love their clothes!
Ooooh, my son North could always use some new threads. He seems to go through clothes so quickly! Please enter me. :)
Love Tea! Also, school clothes…..
I spied the catalog somewhere. They make cute mama clothes too!
Yep, finding decent boys’ clothes is a bit daunting. Thankfully, I had a friend give me a TON of hand-me-downs, so I kind of didn’t CARE since I didn’t pay for them. But now he’s getting to the bottom of the stash! Oh no! School is about to start!
I was going to post a comment anyway but since there might be something in it for us, woo-hoo! I still refuse to buy anything sports-themed or “merchandising-ish”, so I get what you’re saying. I am able to find really cute Hurley stuff at Ross and places like that every once in a while so that it is more affordable, but it’s really hard to find shirts that are not covered in soccer balls/footballs once they reach 3+ years. I’m just not going to do it. Hell, I haven’t sewed since I made that walrus pillow in Home Ec in the seventh grade and my antique Singer sewing machine is more of a piece of furniture in our home, but I will break out that bad boy if I have to!
I love Tea Collection! 50% of the time I’ll buy them from the store and 50% I’ll buy them used (for the higher end items). Very durable and dig the stallion shirt. I got a similar one but it’s a bull.
BULLSHIRT! Heh.
Now I have my eye on a dress for my daughter’s 4th birthday. Oh yes, I do.
Another mom of 2 boys who desperately avoids all sports-related and other cheesy man-togs. I got some Tea stuff on sale once and my six year old lived in those clothes. They were so soft, so nice, and gorgeous colors. They’re currently in a box waiting for boy #2 to get tall enough to wear them. Love all the Tea-pimping going on today!
my husbands saying is…”if it’s free it’s for me” … I just like to find good deals on quality stuff.
Your boys are too cute- I also like the blue hoodie. I am going to check out the girls clothes right now.
Love their clothes!! Thanks for sharing!!
Wow – cute stuff for boys! Somehow I skipped right past the boys’ section when looking for my girls. But your guys look so good in them! Thanks for sharing.
Oh, I love Tea.
Hooray for HORSE shirts! Do they have anything monkey themed? Because that’s all my kid wants to wear. If it is blue and has a monkey on it, she’s all over it. I’ve been doing all her shopping in the Target boys department, and I would love to mix it up a little.
